In response to T.A. Adams’s letter, (“Newspaper should hang head in shame over jail inmate tryst story,” Sept. 13 edition), I would like to point out that the purpose of a newspaper is to report the facts, and the story about a Trump attorney’s wife caught in the back seat with an inmate is indeed factual.

Would T.A. Adams prefer that the Fauquier Times publish fake news instead?

The "Tryst" was News. The name and occupation of the woman's husband was uncalled for and sensationalism. Her husband and family are victim and did nothing wrong and should not be the subject of the article, certainly not the main focus of the story .

Of course it was news and in many different ways, reporting information of interest with regards to the jail, its inmates, the programs in place and their efficacy. Good work! We are fortunate in Fauquier to have competitive journalism and we are all its beneficiaries.
