Today is primary election day and voting continues until 7 p.m.
In Fauquier County, there is a Republican primary for sheriff between incumbent Robert Mosier and challenger Chris Cochrane.
There is also a Republican primary for county commissioner of revenue between Carl Wiberg and Eric Maybach.
Residents of the 18thDistrict have a Democratic Party primary for the House of Delegates seat between Tristan Shields and Laura Galante. The winner will face Republican incumbent Michael Webert, who doesn’t have a primary opponent, in November. Fauquier precincts in the 18thDistrict are Opal, Baldwin Ridge, Courthouse, Airlie, Warrenton, Bealeton, Marshall, Leeds, Waterloo, Springs Valley, The Plains and Broad Run.
Residents of the 88thDistrict have a Democratic Party contest for the House of Delegates seats between Kecia Evans and Jessica Foster. The winner goes on to face incumbent Republican Mark Cole in the Nov. 5 election. The Fauquier precincts in the 88th District are Lois, Morrisville and Remington.
There isn’t a primary in the 31stDistrict for the House of Delegates where incumbent Democrat Elizabeth Guzman will face Republican D.J. Jordan in November. Precincts in the 31stDistrict are Kettle Run, Catlett, Casanova, New Baltimore and Vint Hill.
Voters in a primary vote either a Democratic or Republican ballot but not both. Voters must show a photo I.D. at the check-in table before being given a ballot.
