Fauquier County Sheriff Bob Mosier defeated challenger Chris Cochrane handily in the Republican primary Tuesday.
As of 8:20 p.m., with unofficial returns in from all 21 precincts, Mosier received 80.53 percent of the vote to Cochran’s 19.47 percent – 4,083 votes to 987.
Mosier, seeking his second term as Fauquier County sheriff faces no opponent in the November general election.
In the Fauquier Commissioner of Revenue race, Eric Maybach also easily defeated Carl Wiberg for the Republican nomination. Maybach will face Angela Smith in the Nov. 5 general election. Smith, a realtor, recently filed papers to run as an independent.
Maybach took 69.37 percent of the unofficial vote with all 21 precincts reporting, earning 3,409 votes to Wiberg’s 1,505.
Laura Galante defeated Tristan Shields for the Democratic Party nomination in the 18th District House of Delegates race. Galante took 70.09 percent of the unofficial vote. She will face Republican incumbent Michael Webert in the Nov. 5 general election.
With all precincts reporting, in the 88th District Democratic primary, Jessica Foster of Remington easily topped Kecia Evans by 74.13 percent to 25.87 percent of the unofficial votes. Foster will face incumbent Republican Mark Cole in the House of Delegates race.
