A Catlett man was arrested Wednesday after police determined he shot himself in the leg at a Nokesville residence while he had been drinking.
Police were called to the 9800 block of Par Drive in Nokesville about 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29, to investigate a shooting.
The investigation revealed a man had been drinking alcohol when he allegedly inadvertently discharged a round from a handgun into his leg. Officers used their trauma kits to administer first aid before rescue crews arrived to take the man to the hospital, said Officer Nathan Probus, spokesman for the Prince William County Police Department.
Following the investigation, Myrick Lawrence Rachocki, 26, of Rogues Road in Catlett, was charged with reckless handling of a firearm. He was released on a court summons for a May 6 court date.
