Thursday, Jan. 9 | By Mark Grandstaff | Google+
Warrenton police are looking for a man who robbed an elderly woman at gunpoint in the Leeds Square neighborhood on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, at about 1:15 p.m., the woman was unloading groceries from her vehicle and went into her home on Fairfield Drive in Warrenton. An unknown man followed her into her home, said Warrenton Sgt. George Southard in a release.

The man pulled out what the woman believed to be a small handgun and demanded money. He grabbed her purse and fled toward the Warrenton Greenway. Officers from Warrenton Police Department, Fauquier County Sheriff's Office and Virginia State Police searched the area, but could not find the man.

The man was described as six feet tall wearing a dark hooded type coat.

The purse is black and contained a small amount of currency and a bank card.

Anyone with additional information should contact Detective Brian Kie of the Warrenton Police Department at (540) 347-1107.
