Warrenton police release photos of suspect in cash-for-gold store robbery

Warrenton police are looking for information about Wednesday's daylight robbery of a cash-for-gold store by the old Taco Bell.

According to a release from Warrenton Police Chief Louis Battle, the suspect entered the DMV Gold & Jewelry Exchange of Warrenton at 322 West Lee Highway at about 10:30 a.m. The suspect - a white man, about 6 feet tall, slim build, wearing a tan hat, sunglasses, a white and black jacket, blue jeans and black shoes - displayed and pointed a handgun at an employee and demanded her to open a safe. The suspect then left with about $2,000.00 in cash.

The man was seen running on foot behind Papa John’s towards Roebling Street. It is unknown at this time if the he left the area in a vehicle.
