Fabian Andre Gardeazabal, 20 of Warrenton
Fabian Andre Gardeazabal, 20 of Warrenton, has been charged with abduction, use of a firearm and robbery.
On Tuesday evening, Warrenton Town Police responded to reports of armed robbery when two men allegedly abducted a woman, brandished handguns, and stole prescription medications and cash from the victim’s purse, according to Sgt. Southard of the police department.
The victim said she was exiting the Wawa convenience store with her mother when she spotted two former co-workers in the parking lot, according to files from the Fauquier County Circuit Court.
"She walked over to the vehicle and got into the back to say hello... Gardeazabal left the parking lot at a high rate of speed," according to the documents.
He and his passenger drove the victim to Fauquier Hospital where he demanded her purse.
"Mr. Gardeazabal pointed a gun at the victim and said that the gun was loaded," according to the documents.
Both men rummaged through the purse, but records indicate that only Gardeazabal took pain medication and $1,200 cash. The purse was then returned to the victim and she was released from the car. Gardeazabal was later arrested, but the second suspect remains at large.
Authorities searched Gardeazabal's apartment, located on the 100 block of East Lee Street and discovered a number of drugs and weapons including: cocaine, marijuana, three metal grinders, a digital scale, six smoking devices, 22 Oxymorphone Hydrochloride pills (Opana), $391 in cash, .22 caliber rounds, an Airsoft gun, and a silver revolver.
Though additional charges are pending, Gardeazabal is currently facing charges of robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and abduction. He is currently detained at the county jail.
The investigation is ongoing and leads have been developed as to the identity of the second suspect.
