Warrenton crime log for August
The Warrenton Police Department released its report for August 2013.
Town police took 2,020 calls for service. Of those, 1,176 came from dispatchers and 844 were "self-initiated."
They dealt with 41 vehicle accidents, 17 of which involved no injury or under $1,500 in damage to private property.
They issued 291 summons for traffic enforcement, wrote 134 parking citations and issued 111 written warnings.
They made 48 criminal arrests, 43 for misdemeanors and five for felonies.
They reported one case of forcible rape, three cases of assault, two cases of burglary, 18 cases of larceny, one case of arson, two cases of fraud, six cases of vandalism, three cases of drug violations, four cases of offenses against family, seven cases of driving under the influence, one violation of liquor laws, 12 cases of public intoxication, one case of reckless driving, two cases of driving with a suspended or revoked license and 10 hit-and-runs.
The case of arson was an Aug. 10 dumpster fire that police believe was intentionally set, said Warrenton Police Chief Louis Battle.
