Vint Hill, in its first official land sale since the property was acquired by a local group, has sold 5.5 acres of land on Brookside Parkway to Triumph Baptist Church.
The church, led by Pastor Phil Phillips, will use the new parcel to construct a larger facility to replace its current building.
“We don’t have any lofty aspirations,” said Phillps in a press release. “We want to be a local, community-based church that ministers to the spiritual needs of a growing community.”
Parishioners have been worshipping at Triumph Baptist’s current location in Vint Hill since 2008. The new, larger church will help accommodate its growing congregation, which now numbers close to 200.
“When Ed Moore and his team came into leadership, we started seriously talking about buying land from them,” said Phillips. “The community is starting to expand around us, and we love that we’re sort of in the center of it and have been given this opportunity to grow together.”
The next steps include approval of the site plan from Fauquier County officials. Assuming the county grants its blessing, groundbreaking could take place by the end of the year. Both Phillips and Ed Moore, Vint Hill’s president, are hopeful that the church will be open at its new location by Spring 2016.
A team led by Moore took ownership of Vint Hill in May. Moore and his team believe that helping organizations like Triumph Baptist thrive will help reach their goal to transform Vint Hill into a "vibrant community."
“We’re honored that Pastor Phil and Triumph Baptist Church have chosen to strengthen their ties to Vint Hill,” said Moore. “Their commitment is exactly the type of development that will help us achieve our vision of creating a community with a sense of place and purpose.”
