Venue changes for public hearing on ‘Two Boys Kissing’

In order to ensure adequate seating, the committee review and public hearing on a contested high school library book will be held in a different venue than originally announced. The review and public hearing regarding the book “Two Boys Kissing” by David Levithan will be held Wednesday, April 23 in the Fauquier High School Falcon Room (instead of the school board office conference room).

As previously announced, from 1:30-3 p.m. the committee will interview the complainant and possibly others related to the decision to withdraw or retain the book. Then from 3-4 p.m. the committee will hold a public hearing during which time interested citizens may speak to the review committee concerning the subject. The committee will discuss its findings and render a decision on the same date. All proceedings on April 23 are open to the public.

Depending on the number of people wishing to speak at the hour-long public hearing, speakers should be aware that they may be limited to two to three minutes. Anyone unable to attend the public hearing who would like to comment may submit written comments to the school board office or may email comments to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
