One vehicle ended up on top of another in a wreck on Interstate 66 Monday afternoon.
The rain was pouring around 1 p.m. as Rachel Kenney of Front Royal, driving a 2011 Nissan, crashed into the Honda Accord of Valerie Garcia, of Gerrardstown, W. Va., said First Sergeant Les Tyler of the Virginia State Police. Both motorists were traveling east on I-66 when Kenney lost control of her Nissan within a mile of the U.S. Route 17 interchange, striking Garcia's Honda. The collision pushed the two vehicles up an embankment on the right side of I-66, with the Nissan ending up on top of the Honda, said Tyler.
According to Chief Eddie Payne, of the Marshall Volunteer Fire Company, there were three dogs inside one of the vehicles. Tyler said that Garcia had to be transported to Fauquier Hospital, but neither driver suffered injuries.
The trooper on the scene, J.T. Price, charged Kenney with reckless driving.
