Southeastern Alternative School student wins cash prize

Jacob Hilliard won $250 for going to every table at the 8th Annual Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Career Fair for High School Students in Northern Virginia Then after Jacob got his card validated by exhibitors at every table, his was the winning card drawn by VDOT.

Dr. Wendell Point of Virginia MegaProjects presented Jacob with the check in a school assembly.

The school also won. Southeastern will receive a check for $1,250. Assistant principal Lori Ellison said they wanted to use the money in a way that all students will benefit.

The contest was sponsored by Transurban, an international company that partners with governments to meet long-term transportation needs.

Point invited students to the next transportation career fair Oct. 3, 2013 at the Prince William County fairgrounds.
