The Wakefield Owls lost to the Fredericksburg Christian, 3-0, Thursday at home in The Plains.
Wakefield’s record fell to 1-3 with the 25-20, 25-6, 25-19 loss.
“FCS was a tough team, but we hung in there with them,” Owls coach Lilly Withers said. “Although we lost, I was extremely happy with how we played. It was definitely the best we have played all year.”
The Owls struggled to break one of Fredericksburg’s serves in Game Two, making for the lone lopsided score.
“They had some very strong hitters, but we were able to dig many of them out of the back row,” Withers said. “We played very scrappy and went for almost every ball. Even if we had a bad first pass, we continue to play the ball over the net.”
