Repairing winter damage
The Virginia Department of Transportation is giving Fauquier County a bit of a makeover over the next week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones.
Interstate 66 – Shoulder closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for repairs to the Route 245 bridges over I-66. The closures will affect both eastbound and westbound shoulders. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the work zone and equipment and workers underneath the bridges.
Route 616 (Beech Road) – Pipe replacement. From 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, Route 616 will be closed to through traffic between Route 29 (Lee Highway) and Route 674 (Green Road). Local traffic will be able to access entrances on both sides of the work zone.
Route 654 (Strodes Mill Road) – Pipe replacement. From 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Wednesday Route 654 will be closed to through traffic. Local traffic will be able to access entrances on both sides of the work zone.
Routes 627, 629, 674, 680, 681, 682, 688, 700, 705, 708, 715, 720, 736, 737, 739, 745, 778, 800, 801, 807 – Machining and grading gravel roads. Motorists should be alert for mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment working in the roadway; brief delays possible.
Routes 17 (Marsh Road), 615 (Silver Hill Road), 647 (Crest Hill Road) – Roadside trimming operations. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zone and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.
Routes 17, 29, 55, 211, 707, 710, 711, 720, 721, 726, 737, 738, 1001 – Patching and pavement repairs at various locations along the roads. Motorists should be alert and slow down for mobile work zones; brief delays possible.
