The Wakefield Owls won consecutive matches for the first time this girls tennis season by beating Randolph Macon, 7-0, Thursday at home in The Plains.
They Owls improved their record to 4-4 (4-5 Delaney Athletic Conference) with their second sweep of Randolph Macon this season.
In singles play, Wakefield No. 1 Robin Ross defeated Amelia Zipparo, 8-3, while No. 2 Evy Edens beat Siqin Xie, 8-6, No. 3 Sarah Seventko defeated Sixi Xie, 8-1, No. 4 Ashleigh Provance beat Teni Oduntan, 8-5, and No. 5 Nicole Andersen defeated Amy Wang, 8-0.
In doubles action, Ross and Seventko beat Zipparo and Sixi Tang, 8-3, at No. 1, while Edens and Provance topped Siqin Xie and Wang, 8-4, at No. 2.
Highland field hockey 4, Fredericksburg Christian 0
The Highland Hawks got their fourth consecutive victory Thursday, beating the Fredericksburg Christian field hockey team, 4-0, at home in Warrenton.
Highland improved its record to 6-3 (4-3 Delaney Athletic Conference) with a pair of goals from both junior Mackenzie Walker and freshman Abby Long.
