National Weather Service warns against outdoor burning

Tuesday, Jan. 22 | By Mark Grandstaff | Google+
The National Weather Service urges anyone in the area planning a burn pile to wait another day.

The service issued an "enhanced fire weather threat" alert for several regions in Fauquier County today. A combination of strong winds, 15 to 25 miles per hour with gusts going as strong as 30 miles per hour, and a relative humidity rate of 20 percent, make outdoor burning potentially dangerous today, according to the NWS. The alert lasts until sunset today. To avoid the risk of spreading wildfire, do not conduct any outdoor burning today.
