The Fauquier Falcons scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to beat the Liberty Eagles, 3-1, Saturday in the Conference 22 softball tournament at home in Warrenton.
With the win, Fauquier (16-6) also earned a home game Monday in the quarterfinals of the Class 4A North Region tournament against Loudoun County. Liberty (9-12) will play at Woodgrove in the quarterfinals Monday.
On Saturday, the fourth-seeded Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning, but No. 2 Fauquier tied the game in the bottom of the fourth and then took the lead in the sixth.
Ashtyn Foddrell led off the sixth with an infield single, advanced to second on a sacrafice bunt by Rachel Taylor and then scored on an error to give Fauquier a 2-1 lead. April Nalls followed with an RBI ground out that scored Taylor.
Nalls led the Falcons with two RBIs and a double on 2-for-3 hitting. Going 1-for-3 were Tess Miller (double), Foddrell and Angelle Marshall.
For Liberty, Emily Fitzwater went 1-for-3 with a triple and a run scored, while Paige Pender went 1-for-2 and Gracie Pierce went 1-for-3.
Miller got the win as Fauquier's starting pitcher by allowing one unearned run on three hits and two walks while striking out 14 over seven innings.
Liberty's Anna Sunderlin took the loss after allowing one earned run on five hits and three walks over six innings.
