The fourth-seeded Liberty Eagles upset No. 1 King George, 8-0, Wednesday during the semifinals of the Conference 22 softball tournament.

King George twice beat the Eagles during the regular season, 5-2 and 6-2, but Liberty turned the tables in the tournament. With its win, Liberty qualified for the Class 4A North Region tournament and advanced to play in the conference final Friday against either No. 2 Fauquier or No. 3 Eastern View.

Kettle Run softball 9, Culpeper 1

The top-seeded Kettle Run Cougars defeated No. 4 Culpeper, 9-1, Wednesday in the semifinals of the Conference 27 softball tournament.

Starting pitcher Kaitlin Munda allowed only five hits over seven innings and struck out nine.

The Cougars qualified for the Class 3A East Region tournament and advanced to play No. 2 Brentsville in the conference title game Friday.
