The Wakefield Owls began the 2014 boys tennis season Thursday with a 4-3 victory over Fredericksburg Academy at home in The Plains.

The Owls' No. 1 doubles team of sophomore Gabe Himelfarb and freshman Will Driskill sealed Wakefield's win in the Delaney Athletic Conference dual with an 8-5 victory. Driskill also won his No. 2 singles match, 9-8 (7-5), while freshman No. 4 Connor Mulvey won, 8-2, and eighth grader No. 5 Cameron Abeel won, 8-2.

Himelfarb lost, 8-3, at No. 1 singles, while eighth grader No. 3 Henry Ohrstrom lost, 9-8 (7-5).

In the No. 2 doubles match, Mulvey and Abeel won, 8-5.
