The Liberty Eagles won their first baseball game as a member of Conference 22 on Saturday, beating King George, 12-8, on the road to begin the season with a 1-0 record.
Austin Booth went 4-for-5 for Liberty, while Logan Aylor hit three doubles and Tyler Featheroff hit a home run. Aylor also got the win as the Eagles starting pitcher. He threw four innings with a four-error second inning creating some King George runs. Alex Crofford threw in relief and Brock Smith pitched the seventh inning.
Fauquier girls second at track invite
The Fauquier Falcons ran to a runner-up finish in the girls standings of the Brian Watkins I-95 Invitational on Saturday in Dumfries.
With 87 points, the Fauquier girls finished behind champion Woodbridge, which had 90. The Fauquier boys placed fifth in the 12-team event with 58 points.
Fauquier won four events, including a victory in the 800-meter run by Claire Burke in 2 minutes, 26.92 seconds. Dominique Johnson added a win in the shot put with a throw of 36 feet, 1.5 inches, while the girls 3,200 relay team won in 10:24.54 and Donavin Thompson won the 300 hurdles in 40.04.
Also placing for Fauquier girls were Addison Manor (2nd, 100 hurdles; 2nd, 300 hurdles, 4th long jump), Diamond Robinson (2nd, high jump), Shayne Halligan (3rd, 3,200), Johnson (3rd, discus), Tiana Yates (5th, 100; 8th, 200), Unique London (7th, shot put), Diana Martinez (8th, 3,200), Olivia Borta (8th, long jump; 8th, triple jump) and the 1,600 relay team (4th).
Also placing for Fauquier boys were Ed Delavergne (3rd, 400), Raul Chavez (4th, 800), Dustin Constantino (4th, 3,200), Marcus Campbell (4th, high jump; 8th, long jump), Michael Lewis (4th, long jump), Madison Curry (7th, 300 hurdles), Noah Stevens (7th, triple jump), Corey Huffman (8th, discus), the 3,200 relay team (2nd), the 1,600 relay team (4th) and the 400 relay team (6th).
