UPDATE: IN CUSTODY. Man who threatened kids, emergency workers, law enforcement is now in custody
Monday, May. 19
James Ross Willoughby
The look-out for James Ross Willoughby has been cancelled, according to the Warrenton Town Police. He was taken into custody without incident and is being detained for mental evaluation.
Recently, Fauquier law enforcement was made aware of vague, but threatening, posts on Facebook by James Ross Willoughby, who is a former student, possibly homeless.
These posts threatened harm to law enforcement officers, emergency workers, and children.
"Kill all biohackers, that's kill all children who are enrolled in school now, now," was taken from Willoughby's Facebook page.
Willoughby was observed in Warrenton last Saturday.
Another Facebook comment confirms, "is homeless in Warrenton looking to rent a 1 bedroom apt."
His last known address is Arlington, VA, and his current whereabouts are unknown.
Dr. David Jeck, superintendent of Fauquier County Public Schools, said they are addressing the issue by raising awareness among teachers, parents, and school administrators. He said he does not want to panic anyone, since the threat is almost a week old.
He said they will, "Exercise an abundance of caution."
Efforts should be made to ensure security of facilities containing children and emergency workers, as well as increasing vigilance, and reviewing security procedures.
The individual did not specifically threaten FCPS or any other school division in particular, but made vague references to all children enrolled in school, said the sheriff's office.
Anyone observing Mr. Willoughby is requested to contact the Warrenton Police Department at 540-347-1107, or the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office at 540-422-8600.
