Man and lawnmower slide down 40 foot hill

Wednesday, Jun. 18 | By Julie Taylor
Around 12:30 today Jason Poole of Leesburg was involved in an incident when he and his lawnmower slid down an embankment while cutting grass.

"He was in a precarious predicament," said Warrenton Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company's Battalion Chief RJ Arft.

The man was apparently cutting grass on a zero-turn mower in the development behind Sweet Frog in the North Rock shopping center, when he and the mower, "Lost control and went downhill," said Arft.

Arft estimates the hill to be approximately 40 feet, followed by a straight drop of about 15. However, an iron fence stopped the man from falling the last 15 feet and into the Sweet Frog parking lot.

His arm was severely injured, and he was flown by medical helicopter, which took off from the Sears parking lot, then on to Fairfax Hospital.
