The Liberty Eagles got their most convincing win this girls basketball season Friday by dominating the Fauquier Falcons, 62-32, on the road in Bealeton.
The Eagles shut out Fauquier in the first quarter en route to improving their record to 3-3. Opponents had outscored Liberty by 6.8 points per game prior to Friday, but Liberty improved that metric with the 30-point win.
After taking a 9-2 lead over Fauquier by the end of the first quarter, Liberty took a 24-7 advantage into halftime with eight points by India Turner in the second quarter. The Eagles expanded their lead to 44-18 by the end of the third quarter.
The Falcons struggled to dribble and shoot, let alone find open shots, against both Liberty's full-court pressure and half-court defense. They finished with nearly as many turnovers as points.
The Eagles, meanwhile, scored a lot of their field goals following offensive rebounds.
India Turner led Liberty with 14 points, while Kiana Smith had 13. Alexis Jones and Lizzy Berger added eight points each, while Ashley Lane and Sydney Williams had seven each.
Angel Robinson almost exclusively provided Fauquier's offense during the first three quarters with three 3-pointers. Rebeka Embrey added eight points in the game.
The Falcons lone highlight during the first 24 minutes was a 5-4 run to start the third quarter, but Liberty responded with a 16-6 run. Fauquier scored 14 points in the fourth quarter against the Eagles' bench.
