Kimmy Culver won a pair of races Saturday, but her Liberty Eagles finished third in the boys and girls standings of a triangular swim meet at Jim Barnett Park in Winchester.

The Sherando boys won with 139 points while St. Maria Goretti had 76 and Liberty had 61. The Sherando girls won with 136 points while St. Maria Goretti had 89 and Liberty had 81.

Culver won the 100-meter butterfly in 1 minute, 13.41 seconds and the 100 backstroke in 1:16.11. She also placed second in the 200 freestyle relay with Courtney Maskell, Abigail Culver and Mikayla Ciuffo, and placed second in the 400 free relay with Maskell, Abigail Culver and Ciuffo.

Monticello boys basketball 55, Fauquier 35

The Fauquier Falcons suffered their third consecutive loss Saturday, 55-35, to Monticello on the road in Charlottesville.

Fauquier (5-8) fell behind 15-9 by the end of the first quarter, 31-18 by halftime and 43-24 by the end of the third period.

Dillon Tapscott led the Falcons with eight points, while Jay Jay Roberts had seven. Tapscott added three assists.

Kettle Run wrestling 3-2 at Eastern View

The Kettle Run Cougars went 3-2 at an Eastern View wrestling duals meet Saturday after beating Liberty, 46-18, Jan. 2 in an Evergreen Distirct match.

Kettle Run went 3-2 at the Eastern View duals, defeating Culpeper, 57-24, Louisa, 54-15, and Stonewall Jackson, 43-28. The Cougars dropped matches to Brook Point, 43-23, and Eastern View, 58-12. Caleb Yost (126 pounds), Cameron O’Conner (138) and Adam Bresson (182) each finished the day with 5-0 records, while Colin Kratzer (132) and Evan Rankin (145) went 3-2.

Previously, Kettle Run won six consecutive matches from 138 to 182 pounds against Liberty to build a 42-3 lead.

At 120 pounds, David Libby beat Liberty’s Jason Cody, 8-5, while Yost won by forfeit at 126. Liberty's George Ngoh beat Kratzer, 8-3, at 132 before O'Connor began Kettle run's six-straight wins at 138 when he pinned Gavin Anderson in 2:18.

At 145 pounds, Rankin beat Liberty’s Grayson Cook by pin, while the Cougars’ Brandon James took a fall from Cameron Yates in 4:45 at 152 pounds. Kettle Run’s Connery Ryon followed with a 9-5 simple decision over Romeo Clanagan at 160. Bresson then won by pin at 182.

Liberty’s Carter Yuragaitis beat Michael Burley, 12-8, at 195 while John Clanagan beat Travis Weeks in 3:29 at 200 and Todd Parker pinned Kyle Bland in 3:08 at 285. Kettle Run’s Alex Windsor won 12-3.

Fauquier wrestling fourth at Millbrook

The Fauquier Falcons scored 158 points to finish fourth Saturday at the Mayhem at Millbrook wrestling tournament behind runner-up finishes by Garret Tingen and Max Strum.

Robinson won the 12-team event with 319.5 points.

Tingen (3-1) placed second at 126 pounds after pinning Millbrook’s Nissan Meadows in the semifinals, while Strum (3-1) took second at 182 after beating Millbrook’s Devin Sharp in the semis, 9-0. Placing third for Fauquier were Daniel Ariola (4-1) at 113, Matt Raines (4-1) at 132, Clifford Harris (3-1) at 138 and Trevor Marable (3-2) at 145.

Caleb Strum (3-2) finished fifth at 106, Erick Lemus (4-1) took fifth at 160 and Andrew Smith (152) placed sixth at 152, while Justin Sanker (3-2) finished seventh at 285 and Thomas Palmer took eighth at 220.
