The Liberty Eagles had eight top-five finishes Saturday at the third Fork Union Mini indoor track and field invitational, including two race victories.
Danny Collins led the way for the Liberty boys by winning the 1,600-meter run in 4 minutes, 35.08 seconds, missing the state cut line by only .18 seconds. Collins also took third in the 1,000 (2:46.79) and placed fourth in the 3,200 relay with Adam Walker, Austin Allen and Michael Fairfax (8:57.29).
Anthony Spagnoletti added three other top-three finishes. He placed second in the triple jump and qualified for the 4A North Region meet with a mark of 42 fee, 8 inches. Spagnoletti also qualified for the region by placing third in the 55 dash (6.65) and long jump (20-10).
For the Liberty girls, Taylor Brown won the 1,000 (3:16.72) to qualify for the region meet and placed second in the 1,600 (5:41.42).

The Liberty Eagles got swept by the Brentsville Tigers during a swim dual Saturday, but they did win two races and picked up eight runner-up finishes.
Chuck Crum won the boys 200-meter freestyle for Liberty in 2 minutes, 0.91 seconds, but the Eagles lost to Brentsville, 189-74. Meanwhile, Abby Culver won the girls 100 free (1:07.78), but the Eagles lost to the Tigers, 205-62.
Placing second was Katie Culver in the girls 500 free (7:13.58), Abby Culver in the 200 individual medley (2:49.76), Parker Smith in the boys 100 breaststroke (1:18.95) and boys 50 free (26.01), Chuck Crum in the boys 500 free (5:16.88), the 200 mixed relay team of Crum, Smith, Jacob Dubnowski and Shawn Michanco (1:59.24) , the 200 free relay team of Crum, Dubnowski, Michanco and Smith (1:42.81), and the 200 girls relay team of Katie Culver, Allison Monsell, Amanda Maskell and Abby Culver (2:10.30).
