Independence Day Safety

Over 9600 people are injured in the United States from fireworks injuries and many are children, according to a press release from Fauquier Fire and Rescue Department Chief Thomas Billington.

Grill Safety-
Propane and charcoal BBQ grills should only be used outdoors.
The grill should be placed well away from the home, deck railings and out from under eaves and overhanging branches.
Keep children and pets away from the grill area.
Keep your grill clean by removing grease or fat buildup from the grills and in trays below the grill.
Never leave your grill unattended

Fireworks-

The safest Fireworks are the professional presentations. Parents and caretakers should always closely supervise teens if they are using fireworks
Parents should not allow young children to handle or use fireworks
Consider your pet’s needs. Some pets are afraid of the commotion
Fireworks should only be used outdoors
Always have water ready if you are using fireworks

Driving-

Many streets especially at night, will be full of pedestrians looking up not around
Drinking and driving is not acceptable
