Today the Fauquier County Fairgrounds opened up to hundreds of hungry folks with a passion for fancy fare. Fifteen restaurants doled out large samples to the judges--anyone with taste buds and an opinion. The votes were tallied, and the 2014 winners are as follows:
Best Beverage: Sweet tea by Blue Ribbon Catering
Best Table Display: Flint Hill Public House
Best Appetizer: Lobster macaroni and cheese by Black Bear Bistro
Best Side Dish: She crab soup by Claire's at the Depot
Best Entree: BBQ pork shank with sweet potato salad from Fauquier Springs Country Club
Best Dessert: Chocolate pate with espresso and pistachio tuile from Fauquier Springs Country Club
Chef Tom Berry of the Fauquier Springs Country Club said the competition was also deserving of the Best Entree honor, and felt that if even he didn't win, he would still have confidence in his creations and the staff that puts them together.
