A national firefighter-themed sandwich franchise will present Warrenton's firefighters with a big gift Wednesday.

Firehouse Subs will give the Warrenton Volunteer Fire Company several sets of personal protective equipment and a thermal imaging camera, worth more than $19,400. The donated gear will provide the department with a safe uniform for firefighting operations and other life-threatening situations, while the donated camera will detect body heat and hot spots in burning buildings, allowing firefighters to reach victims quicker and put out deadly fires.

The donation is part of a $53,000 charity blitz in the greater Washington D.C. area, according to a release from Firehouse Subs. The Warrenton restaurant, located next to El Agave, will present Warrenton firefighters with the donation Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.
