The Highland Hawks defeated Trinity Christian, 53-38, Wednesday on the road in Fairfax to win their fourth consecutive boys basketball game and improve to 10-6 this season (5-2 Delaney Athletic Conference).
Logan Miller led Highland with 20 points, while Seth Kott had 11, Nicky Sim had 10 and Rahji Johnson had seven. Miller, Sim and Kott each made a pair of 3-pointers.
Kott added six rebounds, while Johnson had four rebounds and four steals. Miller had two steals and five assists, while Sim had three assists.
“I'm really proud of our effort tonight,” Hawks coach Jake Shechtman said. “Defending well and got really good shots.”
“We still have a lot to improve upon,” he said, “but each of our eight rotation players made a key contribution, which we love.”
Trinity Christian girls basketball 38, Highland 23
None of the Highland Hawks scored in double digits Wednesday during a 38-23 loss to Trinitey Christian on the road in Fairfax.
“Very disappointed in the way we played,” Hawks coach Gary Leake said. “Hopefully that's the last time we bring that type of play and execution to the court.”
With the loss, Highland’s record fell to 8-7 (1-3 Delaney Athletic Conference).
Michele Micciche led the Hawks with seven points, while Shelby Thornill had six. Micciche added five rebounds, five steals and four assists, while Jessica Crew had nine rebounds and two steals, and Colby Newson had eight rebounds and two steals.
Stefanie Hoerner had four rebounds and three steals, while Thornhill had five rebounds and two steals.
