Michele Micciche scored 18 points to help the Highland Hawks beat the Christ Chapel girls basketball team, 46-22, Tuesday at home in Warrenton.
With the win, Highland improved its record to 8-6 (1-2 Delaney Athletic Conference).
“Proud of the complete team effort tonight,” Hawks coach Gary Leake said. “We played especially well in our man to man defense and converted a lot of turnovers into baskets.”
Micciche had five steals, Colby Newson had six and Erica Champion had two.
Meanwhile, Stefanie Hoerner had 10 rebounds, while Newson had seven rebounds and four assists. Champion added five rebounds, while Emily Callahan had seven points and Jessica Crew had three blocks.
“I think that it was good to get our backup players a great deal of time as we prepare for the home stretch,” Leake said. “That experience could come in as a key component to our success.”
Highland boys basketball 68, Randolph Macon 51
The Highland Hawks won their third consecutive boys basketball game Tuesday, 68-51, over Randolph Macon on the road in Front Royal.

“We came out of halftime and really executed some wrinkles we'd worked on in practice,” Hawks coach Jake Shechtman said. “Any time you can play well and get everybody some minutes it's a successful night.”
Logan Miller led Highland with 14 points, while Rahji Johnson had 12 points. Scoring nine points each were Seth Kott, Matt Kelly and Traves Stolterfoht, while Nicky Sim had eight points.
