The Kettle Run Cougars improved to 3-2 in Conference 27 with a 73-56 win over the James Monroe boys basketball team Saturday at home in Nokesville.
The Cougars (12-4) made 9 of 16 3 pointers (56.2 percent), including a 5-for-9 effort from Rashawn Latimer, who scored 30 points. Danny Mattson and Christian Yancey added 13 points each.
Kettle Run took a 22-13 lead by the end of the first quarter and led 35-28 at halftime. The Cougars then began the second half on a 21-18 run.
Latimer also had nine of the Cougars’ 15 steals and a team-high six rebounds. Brendan Deliee had six points on 2-for-3 3-point shooting and a team-high six assists. Mattson added six rebounds and three steals, while Tyler Williams had three assists.
