The Highland Hawks set up another rematch with the Wakefield Owls by winning their quarterfinals game of the Delaney Athletic Conference boys basketball tournament Tuesday.
The Hawks (13-7) defeated Seton, 63-40, in the quarterfinals at home in Warrenton and advanced to play Wakefield in the semifinals Friday on the road in The Plains.
Earlier this season, the Owls defeated Highland, 45-37, in The Plains and, 72-67, in Warrenton.
After beating Seton on Tuesday, Highland coach Jake Shechtman said, “Anytime you come out ahead in a tournament game, there’s a lot to be positive about. But we haven’t yet reached our goal, so we have to keep moving forward.”
Nicky Sim led the Hawks with 14 points, while Set Kott and Matt Kelly had 12 each, and Logan Miller had eight.
“We’re pleased with the way we moved the basketball tonight,” Schechtman said.
Kelly added eight rebounds, three steals and two assists, while Rahji Johnson had seven rebounds, three steals, two assists and two blocks. Miller had four assists and four rebounds.
