Fourteen Fauquier career firefighter-EMTs graduated from recruit school Friday, filling new positions created last year to bolster the county's emergency services.

The new graduates fill five long-standing vacancies in the Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Management, as well as nine of the 22 new positions created last year.

Friday afternoon, the graduates presented Chief Tom Billington with a ceremonial class flag, emblazoned with the motto "Second to None."
