Fauquier High student finishes first in automotive refinishing contest

Fauquier High School student Caitlin Taylor won first place in automotive refinishing in the District 10 SkillsUSA competition held Feb. 8 at FHS.

As the first-place district winner, she will represent District 10 at the Skills USA Leadership Conference April 4 and 5 at the Roanoke Civic Center.

Other students in Fauquier’s automotive programs who performed well at the district competition were Blake Lerner from Liberty High School, who placed second in auto service technology, and Emmanuel Remirez from LHS and Brett Steensma from FHS, who placed third and fourth respectively in automotive refinishing.

All students who placed at the district level received prizes from local industries.

Craig Canard is the instructor of automotive refinishing, and Scott Freeman is the instructor of auto service technology.
