Fauquier County schools recognize American Education Week
American Education Week is Nov. 11 to Nov. 17. This is the 91st year of its celebration.
Fauquier County Public Schools (FCPS) have organized a variety of events and opportunities.
Information for each school is as follows as provided by FCPS.
The three high schools – Fauquier, Kettle Run and Liberty – will be open to the public on Wednesday, Nov. 14 for tours of selected classrooms. Fauquier High School will provide tours from 9:25 to 10:55 a.m. Kettle Run High School will provide tours from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.; a list of open classrooms will be posted on the Kettle Run High School web page. Liberty High School will have an information session followed by tours; the program will begin at 10:00 a.m. and conclude at 11:00 a.m.
Auburn Middle School parents are invited to join their children for lunch on Thursday, Nov. 15.
Cedar Lee Middle School will have an open house at 8:45 a.m. daily for anyone wishing to tour the school during American Education Week.
Marshall Middle School will host parents for lunch on Thursday, Nov. 15.
Taylor Middle School welcomes parents and the community to visit the school Nov. 12 to Nov. 16 for tours and for lunch in the cafeteria. Tours will include a stop in the music department for musical entertainment by students. Light refreshments will be available.
Warrenton Middle School will provide tours for parents and other members of the community on Friday, Nov. 16, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. To schedule a tour, call (540) 347-6160.
Fauquier’s 11 elementary schools will observe American Education Week through various programs and activities. The public is invited to the following activities:
Bradley Elementary School invites parents and community members to visit the school for tours on Nov. 13, 14 or 15 from 2:30-3:00 p.m. Please schedule tours in advance by calling the school office at (540) 422-7510.
Brumfield Elementary School will host “Celebrating Student Success” tours of the school on Thursday, Nov. 15, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Visitors are invited to notice all of the student work displayed throughout the school. Third graders will design posters for American Education Week and display them in local businesses.
Coleman Elementary School will have a fourth grade choral program on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 7:00 p.m. During the week the school will have guest readers and therapy dogs visit all classes.
Greenville Elementary School invites the public to a third grade presentation of Children of the World on Nov. 13 at 7:00 p.m. Parents are invited to lunch on designated days during the week; check the school website for grade-level days and times.
Miller Elementary School will host parents of kindergartners through second graders for lunch – grade 2 on Nov. 14, kindergarten on Nov. 16 and grade 1 on Nov. 20. On Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 10:45 a.m., grade 1 will present their annual production of the Thanksgiving play Five Fat Turkeys ; all are welcome to attend.
Pearson Elementary School will have a community-wide dinner and magic show on Friday, Nov. 16 at 6:00 p.m. There will be a charge. Call the school for further information.
Pierce Elementary School invites parents to visit in their child’s classroom on Tuesday, Nov. 13.
Ritchie Elementary School invites parents to attend Book Fair Family Night on Monday, Nov. 12, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Smith Elementary School will host a patriotic program by third graders on Thursday, Nov. 15, at 7:00 p.m. The students will do readings about our national symbols and sing songs to honor our country. The performance is open to the public.
Thompson Elementary School invites the community to its Multicultural Family Night on Thursday, Nov. 15, at 6:00 p.m. featuring displays presented by the students and their families. Visitors will have the opportunity to sample food from around the world for $2.
Walter Elementary School will host parents and community members for guided tours; please call the school office at (540) 422-7710.
