Farm census to be taken in January

Gov. Bob McDonnell declared that January is Virginia Agriculture Census Month, according to the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

Census data is used to make policy decisions on the federal and state levels. It is a nationwide count of farms and ranches conducted every five years.
