Fauquier-based volunteer organization, Energized Research – Learning Institute (ER-LI), will presents awards to local organizations and people for their energy conservation and sustainability achievements in a ceremony at Vint Hill Craft Winery on Sept.17 .
ER-LI's mission is to help local communities reduce their energy usage.
According to Michael Rainger, founder of ER-LI, this is ER-LI’s second recognition event for 2013 and is part of their continuing efforts to encourage knowledge sharing, promote projects, and educate residents about past, planned and future conservation and sustainability initiatives in Fauquier.
Rainger said potential award recipients include: Piedmont Internal Medicine for their geothermal office building, Windy Hill Foundation Piedmont Lane for their EarthCraft Certification, Fauquier Livestock Exchange for their solar power array, The Fauquier Bank's new branch in Warrenton for their geothermal work, the Airlie Foundation for the renovated geothermal pavilion, Jesse Straight Farming for his farming practices, the Dominion Construction Group for their geothermal, wind, solar work, Brookside Eco-Friendly Neighborhoods, and the new Fauquier Public High School 4-story wing.
Rainger said that in addition to these awards a few select individuals who have effectively challenged the status quo and taken actions which have made life in Fauquier county more Eco-friendly, will also be recognized.
The public is welcome to attend this event for an evening of networking, sharing and learning about new sustainable strategies for both Fauquier and surrounding counties.
