Early morning crash on U.S. Rt. 17, tractor trailer overturns

Wednesday, Jun. 4 | By Julie Taylor
Headed toward Warrenton, a tractor trailer ran off U.S. Rt. 17 early this morning.

A 2010 Freightliner, hauling frozen food, ran off the road around 2:30 a.m., according to Sgt. Les Tyler of the Virginia State Police.

The driver, Timothy H. Crouse, 46 of Glen Burnie, Md., was not injured in the crash.

Crouse overturned the tractor trailer when he ran off the right shoulder, went into a ditch, and hit the embankment. Trooper J.T. Price charged Crouse with reckless driving.

At 9:30 a.m., cleanup was still taking place and the right lane remained closed. Tyler said he expected it to re-open within an hour or two.
