The Kettle Run Cougars made quick work the Manassas Park boys basketball team on Wednesday, beating their of Conference 27 foe, 65-26, at home in Nokesville.
The Cougars took a 22-4 lead in the first quarter and a 43-12 halftime advantage en route to improving their record to 5-0.
Kettle Run shot 56.5 percent from the field, including a 5-for-5 effort from Eddie Benton (10 points) a 6-for-8 showing by Danny Mattson (15 points) and an 8-for-12 effort from Brendan Deliee (19 points). David Eldridge added eight points, four steals and four rebounds.
Deliee had six of the Cougars’ 17 assists and five of their 20 steals, while Nick DelAguila had four rebounds. Benton and Jared Newcomer had two steals and two assist each.
Brooke Point boys basketball 63, Liberty 34
The Liberty Eagles failed to score more than 40 points for the fourth consecutive boys basketball game and lost to Brooke Point, 63-34, at home in Bealeton.
The Blackhawks led only 8-5 at the end of the first quarter, but went on a 22-13 run in the second period.
“Relentless pressure,” said Eagles coach Pat Frazer, whose record fell to 0-4.
Brendan Smith, Titus Sizemore and Bailey Russell each scored six points to lead Liberty.
