Fauquier's two newest assistant commonwealth attorneys have hit the ground running.

Commonwealth Attorney James Fisher hired Marion Alexandra "Alix" Hazel and Amy Cassandra in early September. It normally takes six months to a year to train new prosecuting attorneys to the point where they can handle cases on their own, Fisher said in a release. But thanks to Hazel and Cassandra's prior experience and an advanced drunk driving seminar in Staunton, Va., Fisher was able to fast-track them into direct litigation work.

"I am delighted to have found two dedicated assistant commonwealth's attorneys who have proven to be both energetic and talented," Fisher said.

Hazel, a Fauquier County native, studied at Harvard University and Elon University Law School. She has practiced locally for three years. Cassandra, who has had one year of local practice, graduated from The Catholic University of America's Columbus School of Law.

Congrats, Amy.  Thanks for being my lawyer.  I’ll miss .
