Austin Day and Nick Whitehead scored five goals apiece Monday to help the Highland Hawks beat the Wakefield Country Day boys lacrosse team, 13-1, at home in Warrenton.
With the win, the Hawks improved to 4-3 overall.
Whitehead also had seven ground balls and an assist, while Brandon Landers had three assists and two goals. Jack Silvernale added six ground balls, one goal and one assist, while Manti Batistas had five ground balls and an assist.
Eastern View boys lacrosse 10, Liberty 9
The Liberty Eagles fell just short of winning their second game of the boys lacrosse season.
Eastern View defeated Liberty, 10-9, Monday on the road in Bealeton after Kaden Woodward scored the winning goal with about 30 second remaining in the fourth quarter.
“Our kids played their tails off and are striving to be their best,” Eagles coach Scott Girolmo said. “For that I am proud, but we are not there yet and we are determined to maximize our potential.”
Liberty (1-8) lost despite five goals by Tommy Smith, who reached the 100-goal plateau in his career during the game.
“A tremendous feat for a junior,” Girolmo said.
Parker Smith added three goals and two assists, while Tommy Smith had one assist and Byron Marshall had one goal. Steve Fink finished with 12 saves and Matt Nailor won nine of 13 faceoffs.
