FISH Gets New Space From County
As far as Susan Hodges is concerned, the events of the past three months have been pleasantly surprising.
Hodges is the director of a charitable organization called FISH (For Immediate Sympathetic Help) in Warrenton. Staffed entirely by volunteers, the organization provides food, and financial assistance with utilities and related services to those in need in Fauquier County.
Last fall, the county expressed renewed interest in converting a building on West Lee Street that houses the FISH food bank into an evidence storage facility for the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office.
FISH was to have been moved to Vint Hill, a move that, officials with the charity insisted, would make it almost impossible to serve clients.
If all continues to go as currently planned FISH will soon move from its current location on West Lee Street to Pelham Street in Old Town Warrenton.
“The new place is better than what we have now. I think the county is upgrading us,” Hodges said. “I am very happy [they] are letting us use another unused building.”
Hodges said the group could relocate within the next month or so, but clients won't be officially notified about the change of address until a specific date is set.
