Auburn, Warrenton share middle school volleyball title
Shared titles are not uncommon in middle school sports. It happened again last week when Auburn and Warrenton middle schools shared the county volleyball title.
Earlier this year two-time defending champion Auburn had a 31-match winning streak ended by Warrenton, but Auburn's 25-21, 25-8 win last week over Warrenton allowed both teams to finish 7-1 and share the title.
“When Warrenton beat us this year, it woke us up. We saw they could beat us. Now it was our turn to come back,” saio Auburn athletic director Jeff Anderson.
Andeson said the intense match attracted a full crowd last Tuesday at Auburn.
“There were no seats to be had. If you came in late you had to stand at one end of the gym near a wall.”
