Residential Burglaries InvestigatedTwo residential burglaries reported to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office March 11-13 remain under investigation. The details included in police reports are as follows:
— March 11, A caller from the 12200 block of Brent Town Road, Catlett, reported a residential burglary with the theft of a four-wheeler. The estimated loss is $1,600.
— March 13, Someone from the 6800 block of Brianwood Court, Bealeton, reported a residential burglary with the theft of an air compressor, drill, chainsaw, two weed eaters and a wheel barrow. The estimated loss is $920.
Fraud Reported
A complainant from the 20 block of Main Street, Warrenton, reported an incident allegedly involving bank fraud to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office March 9.
According to police records, the estimated loss in the case is $6,600. The investigation is ongoing.
Drug Arrest Made
William Bezares, 45, of Centreville, was arrested on DUI and drug charges March 11, police said.
1st Sgt. Matt Hanley of the Virginia State Police said the felony charges stemmed from a traffic stop on I-66 at approximately 11:15 p.m. Trooper Chris Wyrick made the stop and a search incidental to arrest yielded a small amount of cocaine, Hanley said.
Bezares was charged with DUI (3rd/subsequent offense) and possession of cocaine, Hanley added.
Thefts Reported
Three people reported thefts to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office March 11-12. The details included in police records are as follows:
— March 11, A caller from the 6100 block of James Madison Highway, Warrenton, reported the theft of a carport. The estimated loss is $1,640 and an investigation continues.
— March 12, Someone from the 11100 block of Cedar Lane, Bealeton, reported the theft of two weed trimmers and a large metal tool box. The estimated loss is $510.
— March 12, A complainant from the 7000 block of Ivy Hill Drive, Warrenton, reported the theft of an entrance sign. The estimated loss is $800.
Bealeton Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant
A Bealeton man was arrested on an outstanding warrant March 13, police said.
According to Warrenton Police Chief Connie Novak, officers went to a Warrenton motel to serve the warrant at approximately 8:30 a.m. Erik Wayne Lane, 27, who was wanted by the Manassas Park Police Department for violating court order, ran out the back door when officers arrived, Novak said. Plainclothes officers apprehended him later, Novak said.
Larceny Reported
Police said no one was hurt when someone tried to steal a knife from Sears in Warrenton March 14.
Loss prevention officers at the store saw a white man, approximately 25 to 35 years of age, cut open a package containing the knife, Warrenton Police Chief Connie Novak said. When they approached him, the man pushed one of the officers and ran, Novak said.
The suspect was reportedly seen getting into a silver sports utility vehicle.
No One Charged in Crash
Police said no one was seriously hurt when a dump truck hit a passenger car in the area of Elk Run Road and Midland Road March 10.
A Fauquier County deputy's report indicates Barbara Lynn Leroy, 44, of Stafford was driving a 2008 Ford Fusion when she entered the intersection of Elk Run Road and Midland Road after stopping at the stop sign. As she did so, the dump truck, which was driven by Gerald Lee Gibson, 34, of Gum Spring, Va., struck her vehicle.
The report indicates Leroy's view of Gibson's vehicle may have been obscured by a dip in Elk Run Road.
Neither driver was charged in connection with the incident.
Reckless Driving Charges
A Moshannon, Pa., man was charged with reckless driving after he had a car accident March 11, police said.
According to a Fauquier deputy's report, the wreck happened in the area of Old Dumfries Road and Greenwich Road at approximately 6:50 a.m.
Jonathan Edward Franks, 35, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado and tried to pass two other vehicles while approaching a curve, police said. As another vehicle approached him, Franks allegedly swung back into the southbound lane and onto the shoulder. He lost control of the vehicle and skidded back and forth across the roadway, before going on to the northbound shoulder, where he hit a culvert pipe, mailbox and a tree.
The impact caused Franks' vehicle to spin around again and it went through the ditch onto the northbound shoulder, police said. The vehicle finally came to a stop in the southbound lane.
Neither Franks nor a passenger were visibly hurt and neither was transported to the hospital by EMS personnel, according to the report.
Minor Injuries Reported in One-Car Crash
Police said a Warrenton man sustained minor injuries in a motor vehicle crash March 14.
A Fauquier County deputy's report indicates the wreck happened on Springs Road at approximately 6:33 p.m. Eric E. Peck, 43, was driving a 2009 Toyota Tacoma westbound on Springs Road when the front tire apparently drifted off the roadway onto the shoulder. Peck was unable to get back on the road because there was a ditch on the right side of the road. The vehicle went into another ditch before stopping against a fence, according to the report.
Peck did not appear to be hurt, but complained of pain, according to the report. He was not transported to the hospital by EMS personnel.
