Denny's Restaurant Hit by Car

A Remington man was charged with reckless driving after his Ford F250 pickup truck hit the Denny's Restaurant on Comfort Inn Drive on Monday morning.

Fulton Moore Manuel, 68, drove into the parking lot and turned into a parking space when a “large soft cast on the right foot” apparently caused him to accelerate instead of stopping. As a result, the vehicle jumped the sidewalk and hit the building.

Fire and rescue personnel also responded to the scene, where the damage to the building was “very visible,” according to the report. Benches, tables and chairs inside the building were also damaged.

Although the damage was isolated to a small area of the building, the building inspector came to the scene, police said. After assessing the damage, the building inspector said the restaurant could re-open once the damage had been cleaned up.

No one was hurt, police said.
