Goldvein This Week: Celebrate Close to Home on July 4
Independence Day is this Saturday. In case you haven't made plans, there are a few local options.
The Inn at Kelly's Ford has a celebration planned that includes music, pony rides, a moon bounce and fireworks. The cost is $5 per person, and children 6 and under are free. For more information, visit www.innatkellysford.com.
Great Meadow also has a lot of family fun planned, including a petting zoo, games, a rain machine and fireworks. The cost is $20 per vehicle in advance. Visit www.greatmeadow.org to purchase tickets.
Whatever you do, be safe and have a fun holiday.
Cindy Miller, Valerie Duncan, Carol Armstrong Lyssa Bridges, Emily Davis, Mike Cox, Shari Flinn and Pat Kelly are celebrating birthdays this week. Many happy returns to all of these July babies.
The Goldvein Volunteer Fire Department is in need of more volunteers. For more information, call (540) 752-4772 or visit www.goldveinfire.com.
Morrisville United Methodist Church, in southern Bealeton, invites all children, preschool to 10 (older are welcome if they would like to attend), to Camp E.D.G.E., being held Tuesday, July 7, through Saturday, July 11.
Tuesday through Friday hours will be 2-5 p.m., with activities and healthy snacks for all. Saturday hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a cookout, sing-a-long and more activities.
Advance registration is not required but is helpful: 2-5 p.m. Monday, July 6, or 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, at the church. Questions can be directed to (540) 439-2594.
The "Sisters of Hope" (an Avon Walk for Breast Cancer team) are planning a yard sale/fundraiser in July. If you would like to donate anything, call Amy at (540) 439-0528.
In honor of the Fourth of July, this quote is from W. Somerset Maugham: "If a nation values anything more than freedom, it will lose its freedom, and the irony of that is that if it is comfort of money that it values more, it will lose that, too."
Have a wonderful week.
