Grace Miller

Visit the Grace Miller Library this summer. Every Wednesday in July, the GMES Library will be open from 10 a.m. to noon. Please visit them for book checkouts and AR quizzes. The books that you have fun reading this summer will count toward next year's Big Bounce, and the GMES Library is the only place where you can take those AR quizzes.

Also, visit the Bealeton branch of the Fauquier Library for their fantastic summer reading program. You can also check out the GMES AR quiz list on both the GMES Library and the Fauquier Public Library Web sites. The more you read, the better you read.

Information for the 2009-2010 school year will be mailed the first week of August. This packet will include your child's classroom assignment, back to school night information, etc.

Auburn Middle

The Auburn Middle School Relay for Life team earned $7,189.90 to benefit the American Cancer Society. The AMS team walked in the relay held May 31 at Fauquier High School and held numerous fund-raising events prior to the walk. In keeping with their theme of cancer awareness, the team chose four types of cancer to research and then promoted awareness of the symptoms of each as well as preventative measures. With a slogan of "Knock Out Cancer," the team had a boxing ring at its campsite, where participants in the relay could choose the cancer type they wanted to knock out. The AMS team won first place in the event's youth campsite category and second place in the youth song/skit category.
