Parents are reminded that in order to avoid a possible extra payment, they must log onto the Web site and disable the automatic low-balance payment option for their student's account. Failure to do this as accounts are drawn down will result in an additional automatic payment.

Grace Miller

Yearbooks are here. The 2008-09 edition of the Grace Miller Elementary School Yearbook are here and available for sale. For those who did not place an order for a yearbook but would still like to own one, they are available in the main office at a cost of $17. Cash or check payments (made payable to GMES) are being accepted. Yearbooks will be available until they run out.

As we say goodbye and best of luck to the 2008-09 class of fifth graders, a celebration has been planned for these wonderful young people and their parents at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, in the PE room at GMES.

Taylor Middle

Congratulations to the newest members of the Roaring Tigers: Jamal Bailey, Justina Augustine, Michael Hudson, Jesus Samayoa, Justin Sanker, Amelia Zipparo, Huntter Utterback, Ali Floyd, Joe Mercado, and Mattie Reynolds. Thank you for making Taylor Middle School a wonderful place to be.

The Family and Consumer Sciences classes at Taylor Middle School have been competing to see which class could bring in the most recyclables. This project encourages students to recycle items when they might otherwise be thrown away. Congratulations to the 5A and 4B sixth-grade classes, who won the last competition of the year. They will be rewarded with a make-your-own-pizza party in the classroom kitchen. Keep recycling.

Awards assemblies for sixth, seventh, and eighth grades were held at TMS the week ending June 5, and many students were recognized for their outstanding effort and hard work. Congratulations to all for a great year full of stellar accomplishments.

Foxcroft

The roses weren't out yet, owing to the cool spring, but azaleas, peonies and irises, as well as proud parents, faculty and friends, glowed along with the beaming faces of the members of Foxcroft School's Class of 2009 the morning of May 22 in Miss Charlotte's Garden, as 40 scholars received their diplomas at the school's 95th commencement.

The class, which includes young women from nine states, two foreign countries and the District of Columbia, is an accomplished one, having earned 150 acceptances to 88 colleges and universities.

In a first for Foxcroft, the exercises included the official presentation of an appointment to West Point by Cadet Stuart Coffee, a member of the USMA Class of 2011, to Christine Thebaud of Upperville.

Thebaud was also one of seven students inducted into the Foxcroft Chapter of the Cum Laude Society, a high school academic organization based on the college-level Phi Beta Kappa.

Paul K. Bergan, who taught at Foxcroft for 22 years before retiring two years ago, was the featured speaker, selected by the graduates.

Senior Class Speaker Catherine Leigh (Kayleigh) Moehrle of Frederick, Md., exhorted her classmates to embrace change and move into the extraordinary.
