Local farm hosts filming of WWI battle reenactment

It produced the deadliest day of combat in the corps’ then 143-year history.
And the Marines’ heroics at the World War I battle at Belleau Wood, about 30 miles east of Paris, earned them the nickname “devil dogs” for the ferocity with which they attacked the German infantry in a wheat field during three weeks in June 1918.
For one or two days next week, beginning Tuesday, 40 Marines and eight actors in period uniforms will reenact the battle at the Ritchie family’s Inglewood Farm on U.S. 17 near Bealeton.
The movie will be closed to the public.
