Cash or check payments (made payable to GMES) are being accepted.

Yearbooks will be available until they run out.

Special thanks go to Nancy May, Yearbook Coordinator, who once again did an outstanding job and put in countless hours so that we might enjoy another beautifully done yearbook. She has been coordinating the GMES yearbook for 18+ years.

This year's Grace Miller Yearbook was dedicated to a very special person, Head Custodian Danny Williams. Mr. Williams is loved by staff and students alike. He has been with the GMES family since the school opened in 1990.

Janet Romine, GMES Cafeteria Manager, will be retiring at the end of this school year after being with Fauquier County for 22 years. She has also been with the Grace Miller family since the school opened.

As we say goodbye and best of luck to the 2008-09 class of fifth graders, a celebration has been planned for these wonderful young people and their parents on Tuesday evening, June 16, beginning at 7 p.m. This event will be held in the PE Room at GMES.

Be sure to pick up any medicines your child may have been taking during the school year no later than the last day of school. Any medicine left with the clinic will be disposed of on Friday, June 19.

Special thanks to Sheila Monahan for another successful Fifth Grade Spring Concert. Congratulations to the fifth graders for their hard work in preparing for this recent annual event, as well as the fourth-grade recorder students, who also participated.

The GMES Relay for Life Team raised over $5,000 toward breast cancer research and finding the cure. Congratulations.

Remember that Friday, June 12, is a half day; Wednesday, June 17, is a half day, and Thursday, June 18, is a half and the last day of school.

Wakefield Country Day

Wakefield Country Day School congratulated 10 students, the graduating class of 2014, during the annual Lower School Award and Promotion Ceremony on May 29. The invocation was delivered by the Rev. Paul L. Dudzinksi of St. Peter's Catholic Church of Washington, Va. Kathleen Grove, Head of School, warmly welcomed parents, friends and family to celebrate in the accomplishments of the lower school during the 2008-2009 school year. Seventh-grade student Sam Nolan then took the podium and thanked the teachers on behalf of his entire class. Rachel Paulisch concurred. Finally, Grace Alexander looked to the future.

A beautiful evening in the Senior Garden set the stage for the 30th Commencement ceremony at Wakefield Country Day School on May 31. Head of School Kathleen Grove individually introduced each of the 17 seniors of the 2009 graduating class. "Wakefield Country Day School seniors are a remarkable group. They've grown up together and worked hard to reach this point," said Grove. Indeed, two members of the graduating class, Kristina Stone and Neil McClung, have been at Wakefield since kindergarten. Senior Saheel Mehta, who has been attending Wakefield since the third grade, gave the Salutatory Address to a full audience. Jim Gannon, retired journalist and Rappahannock County resident, was the guest speaker of the evening. After the presentation of diplomas, Audrey Speer gave the Valedictory Address.
